Last night at approximately 9:30 p.m., Grandfalls-Royalty ISD administration became aware of a threat allegedly made by a student at school yesterday. The administration promptly reported the alleged threat to the Ward County Sheriff's Office, who has been on campus investigating this morning. Although the investigation is ongoing, the Ward County Sheriff’s Office has preliminarily indicated that the threat was unfounded. Therefore, we have determined that it is safe to continue with school today. Please be assured that safety is the district’s highest priority and that threats to that safety will not be tolerated. As a result, the district will discipline any student found to have made a threat in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Now more than ever, we must work together to keep our district safe, and I encourage anyone who sees or hears something unusual or of concern to report it immediately, as was done in this case.
The staff and students would like to say Congratulations to Dr. Hernandez. Dr. H was honored tonight for successfully completing his Ph.D. program at the University of Texas at San Antonio. We are all proud of his hard work, determination, and grit. Congratulations Dr. Hernandez!!!
The boys Varsity basketball game on Friday 12/7/23 has been cancelled.
