Wendy Shine, 7-12 English Teacher, was awarded Secondary Teacher of the Year for 2024-2025
Wendy Shine began her teaching career in 1996 as a Kindergarten teacher in Temple. She transitioned to high school in 2001 and has been a secondary English or History teacher since then. She has two children, Mikayla and Robert, whom she adores. In her free time, she enjoys reading classic literature and historical fiction, and watching movie adaptations of books while yelling at the TV about what the filmmaker got wrong. She also enjoys attempting to play with her rescue cat, Fat Richard, who has been on a diet for years against his will and seems proud to have only lost 1.1 pounds. Ms. Shine's favorite drink is Coke Zero, and her favorite snacks are Peanut Butter Ritz Bits and chocolate-covered nuts. Ms. Shine's favorite quote is "Be the best version of yourself."
